The Tommy O’brien short board for 2008 is one of our more refined surfboards… Designed to be fast and forgiving, this board comes in a rounded squash or a wider round tail, both with a single concave nose to tail…this boards most previlent characteristic is an overall wider outline which allows the surfer to ride the board a bit shorter than previous short boards built for the same waves…. drop us a line if you wan to find out more…b

Ahh yes the almighty shortboard, how I love thee. Oh how we relish each breath of specialization put into these little jems, huhumm….
Anyhow, the ‘08 Model short boards will feature designs derived from team and amigos feed back from surfers like Tommy O., Alek P., Sean T., Rylan M., Mark D., Shea L., and even me, Brian T. So keep an eye out for the new “Named” models and there design breakdowns, here on the site, ok?
Back to what matters, RANT, I’ve always designed my short boards to lend themselves to what the rider has in mind as far as executing their moves on a wave, ie, I want you to be able to put the board where you want to and so on.
Speed and forgiveness have always been a tough marriage of sorts , but I feel that the designs for the up coming year will help these components thrive harmoniously under foot; trust me.
Again check back for the design segments on the Short Board “Pro & Amigos” Models for ‘08 here and only here.
Love, BAT

We have been doing quite a few Quads recently, pictured here is our Sun Fish Quad (and our web guy Brennan).
It is a shorter wider style quad board with a single concave too slight “V” hull. For instance, a 6′0” would run about 20” wide, about 2 3/8” thick, and would be ridden by some one in the 175 lb. -195 lb. range, these boards come in either epoxy or polyester with your choice of fin system.
The polys are priced around $500 factory direct/ custom because of the extra fin ( not a tri which would run about $480).
We do also have an more updated version of this board which will be featured during December which is a more short board like Quad, derived from work with Viking Surfboards teamer Sean Tubbs, so keep your eye out for that one then, and if you want more info on this one drop us a line.

So hawaii has been really fun so far this year. I was able to get a solid shop order for Aloha Board Shop, in town and have been surfing some super fun waves. Last monday me and my host Brian Gold surfed a secrete spot 4-5 ft. (like 2x overhead ) for 3 hours, no wind and only one other guy out, so yes it is possible to score empty waves here, still… weird though…
Any how, Today, me and my teamer from FL., Christian Marcher, surfed some Rocky Rights. Scored some super fun 3-4′ and everybody out, but still super fun.
Christian has moved here for the season, living at Sunset point, he’s got a towny job and a little UH hottie to keep him distracted from the surf. I told him to have fun and bail out before summer, although with his towny job he would kill it in the summer, anyhow he’s even in a band ,, GO Boy!!
Back on the update, I will be working at The Factory (check out there site Hawaiisurffactory.com ) with Otis Schaper, Amp, Pinder, Paloma and the rest of the crew the next couple of days shaping customs for good ole’ Jeremy Saukel, Marcher, Josh Murphy and of course the stocks for Aloha Board Shop. Keep an eye out for the footage from Logs , yesterday and today…. it got sik!!! Big barrels last night with 6′+ sets feathering on the outside reef…. some crazy Aussie got worked, today was bombing and our very own Coreman Lopez got the Bomb Wave, while Shea got bounced and worked his knee, ouch…. go IRB!!
aloha for now , bat

Welcome to the “new and improved” batsurf dot com, to start I would like to express that we are not trying to reinvent the wheel here, we are just trying to make B.A.T. Surf Boards more accessible and our site more informative than ever before.
Since the great Clarkfoam went “belly up”, sorry for the blatant description, all us domestic American board builders have been dealing with some creative business practices to say the least… and as I’m not really sure how and or why my colleagues do what they do, I would like to think I have a bit of a grasp on what I want to do. So one of the things I am doing is this blog format site.
Within the blog site will be general news, interviews, updates and info on all of my stuff; surfboard models, surf travels, surf friends and surf team riders etc and all open to comments for an open door for interaction… all pertaining to surfboards shaped by me, Brian Alexander Tudor.
So enjoy our new site and please keep checking back as we will, I will be updating it on a regular basis.
And, if you would like to get a custom board, let me rephrase that, when your ready and serious about ordering a custom board you’ve come to the right place, just drop us a line and we or one of our dealers will get one going for you.
Cheers
